THE VISION

No Empty Promises

In my 37 years in North Port, I have seen the city grow, change and face its share of challenges. As a journalist, I learned you cannot lead effectively if you only listen to one side of the story. For years, I uncovered facts by asking tough questions and digging into details. I have also solved problems for residents through strength and leadership. I get pretty passionate over issues, especially when someone needs help and is not getting results. I work hard to fix the problem. I am not running to offer guesswork or empty promises, I am running to provide leadership rooted in research and a deep understanding of our citys history. Whether you are a young family or a senior on a fixed income, it is imperative I use common sense and hard facts to protect your interests. Together, we can ensure North Port remains a vibrant place for families to thrive and businesses to grow.

Investing in Our Youth

Elaine is committed to ensuring every child in North Port has access to world-class education. Her plan includes modernizing classroom technology, supporting our dedicated teachers with competitive resources, and expanding after-school programs that foster creativity and leadership. By investing in our schools, we are investing in the very heart of North Port's future.

Sustainable Economic Progress

Elevating North Port's economy through smart development, local business empowerment, and the creation of high-value career opportunities for residents. Commercial development and businesses pays higher taxes than residential homeowners. The city needs to increase its commercial sector to take the ever-increasing tax burden off of the local homeowners. It can be done is a planned, smart way where it doesn't greatly impact existing neighborhoods.

Affordable Living

North Port used to be the most affordable place to live. Taxpayer's must be protected from unreasonable hikes or being nickle and dimed all of the time.

We also need starter homes for new graduates, new nurses, teachers and those on fixed incomes.

North Port needs a mix of homes to also help diversify the tax base. If we had all of the same housing stock, everyone would pay the same tax rate and we would never collect enough to pay for infrastrure and other pressing projects.

Smart Growth

While property rights can't be taken away, growth can still be controlled by ensuring that our infrastructure development keeps pace with our city's expansion.

The city needs to work on more traffic control issues.

I will not advocate to get the city sued, but I will work on making developers accountable during all phases of construction, especially of the state overrides local government's decision-making authorities.

I Will Listen

God gave us two ears. The people of North Port want to be heard. They also want all sides of the story and not one narrative. Residents have ideas, suggestions and solutions. It's time to listen to them. It's time to see if those ideas will work for the betterment of North Port.

Sadly, the people of North Port say they aren't being heard. While the city offers public comment, very often they don't act on resident's recommendations.

That's what happened to me, so I am running for office to make a difference.

A Safer Future

One reason people love living in North Port is because it's a safe, clean community.

Police response times are still very good. The North Port Police dispatchers are outstanding, especially under pressure.

North Port police need a new building.

We have to listen to them in order to keep the city safe and police morale up. I've lived here when police had "no confidence" in their leadership.

The Police Benevolent Association also backs a new police station.

If we back the blue, we all need to work together to find a solution for a less expensive building, but one that will have the tools needed for today's police officers while still protecting us in the future.

  • I will help with community engagement on this issue
  • I will hear the resident's ideas and ask the police if they are viable.
  • Giving police the ability to do their jobs in an ever-growing city is something we should all care about today and in the future.
